System of a Down, por vezes abreviado para SOAD ou System, é uma banda de heavy metal armênio-americano de Glendale, Califórnia, formada em 1994. A banda é composta atualmente por Serj Tankian (vocais, teclados), Daron Malakian (vocais, guitarra) , Shavo Odadjian (baixo, vocal de apoio) e John Dolmayan (bateria).
O sucesso comercial da banda alcançado com o lançamento de cinco álbuns de estúdio, três dos quais estreou no número um na Billboard 200. A banda foi indicada para quatro Grammy Awards, e sua canção "B.Y.O.B." ganhou o Melhor Performance de Hard Rock de 2006. Slayer é uma banda americana de thrash metal de Huntington Park, Califórnia, formada em 1981 pelos guitarristas Jeff Hanneman e Kerry King. Slayer chegou à fama com seu reinado de sangue em 1986, e é creditado como uma das "quatro grandes" bandas de thrash metal, juntamente com Metallica, Megadeth e Anthrax. Desde o seu álbum de estreia em 1983, a banda lançou doze álbuns de estúdio, dois álbuns ao vivo, um box, seis videoclipes, dois extended play e um álbum cover. Quatro dos álbuns de estúdio da banda receberam certificação de ouro nos Estados Unidos. The Dead Kennedys (eng. "O Kennedys morto") eram uma banda de punk rock dos EUA de São Francisco, Califórnia, formada em 1978. Os seus comentários de humor mordaz as posições das políticas de esquerda e direita, por vezes bastante invasivos em sua escolha de palavras. Musicalmente eles combinam os elementos artísticos do "clássico" punk rock do Reino Unido com a potência e a velocidade do punk rock dos Estados Unidos. A banda The Dead Kennedys foi fundada em junho de 1978. A banda consistia de Jello Biafra (cantor), East Bay Ray (guitarra), Klaus Flouride (baixo) e Bruce Schlesinger (baterista). O álbum desapareceu nos Estados Unidos.
Após o lançamento do álbum Bedtime para a Democracia no final de 1986, a banda The Dead Kennedys é declarada dissolvida. Após esse álbum a banda se separa. Jello Biafra permaneceu no movimento punk e esta ativo, mantém até hoje o rótulo Alternative Tentacles.

Joy Division foi uma banda de rock britânica formada em 1976, em Salford, Greater Manchester. Evoluiu a partir da banda de punk Warsaw, ela interpretou a música de forma sombria, reflexiva. Eventualmente, o seu estilo de música classificados como pós-punk e new wave. Em 1980, após a morte do vocalista Ian Curtis, o grupo se desfez. Os membros restantes formaram a formação do New Order.

Motörhead foi uma banda de rock fundada no Reino Unido 1975. A música do Motörhead combinado influências do punk, hard rock, rock 'n' roll e blues rock. Sua influência sobre outros músicos e bandas, especialmente em bandas de heavy metal foi e é muito grande em comparação com o seu próprio sucesso comercial.
